Beauty Report: Makeup Trends to try this Summer 2020 (Part 2)

Updated: Oct 22, 2021

Welcome to the second part of this beauty report, where you will discover 6 other makeup trends to try during this summer 2020. If you missed the first part of this report, you can check it out here. As in the first edition, here you will find a combination of subtle and daring trends, but they are all beautiful and worth trying. Without further ado, let’s begin to introduce these makeup trends.

Summer Makeup Trend #7. Hot Pink lips

Hot Pink is the new red. This bright color will be the perfect substitute for your classic red lipstick this summer. You can wear the trend with a black cat eye, a subtle eyeshadow look, or just mascara on your lashes, it will look beautiful in any way.

Beauty tip: to finish the look, I recommend that you use your favorite pink blush, and don't forget to apply highlighter to the high points of your face.

Summer Makeup Trend #8. Blue eyelids

Classic blue is the color of the year, and summer is the perfect season to wear it on your eyelids. Bold smoky eyes in blue, like in the picture, will look great for night outs during the summer. However, if this trend sounds intimidating to you, don't worry, you can draw a classic cat-eye in blue.

Beauty tip: Let your eyes be the start of the show with this look, apply your favorite nude lipstick, and a subtle blush.

Summer Makeup Trend #9. Holographic smokey eyes

First, let me explain that holographic makeup refers to the iridescent property of certain products (eyeshadows, highlighters...) that produce a color shift depending on the viewing angle and lighting. The best thing about this trend is that it is very easy to achieve, but it will seem like you tried hard. To recreate the look, just apply any holographic eyeshadow you have, in powder or cream, and smoke it out (click here to see tutorial).

Beauty tip: If you don’t have any holographic eyeshadow, a holographic highlighter could work.

Summer Makeup Trend #10. Yellow eyelids

I love this summer makeup trend because it looks so fresh and youthful. Although the color may seem too daring, the truth is that it is very wearable on its own. Just apply your favorite matte or shimmery yellow eyeshadow to your eyelids and blend the edges with your bronzer. It's an effortless look and looks great for both day and night.

Beauty tip: You can transform your matte yellow eyeshadow look from day to night, applying a thin layer of glittery golden eyeshadow on top.

Summer Makeup Trend #11. Glitter fever

This fun trend is the look you should wear for partying this summer. You just need to have fun with your glitters and create original looks with them. Here are some ideas: Create a glittery floating eyeliner, draw a classic cat eye in black and add glitter to your inner corners, apply a glitter eyeshadow and put glitter of different sizes on top, draw a glittery cat eye ... the options are endless, that's why this trend is so fun.

Beauty tip: Do not forget to use a glitter primer, Nyx has a very good one, to keep all the glitters in place throughout the night. You don't want to have glitter all over your face.

Summer Makeup Trend #12. Foxy eyes

I think you expected me to mention this trend from the first part of this report, as it has been present on all social media lately, with models like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner as the main sources of inspiration for this look. This trend involves several tips and tricks, from hairstyle and eyebrows shape to the application of eye shadows and lashes. If you are interested in getting the look, I share my favorite tutorial here.

Beauty tip: You can try the trend more easily and subtly, like I did, by smudging a brown eyeliner along your lash line and pulling it out in a wing shape. The idea is to elongate your eyes following their natural shape.

BONUS Summer Makeup Trend. Feathered brows

This is an effortless eyebrow look, supermodel style. I know this trend may not be to everyone's liking, but if you're willing to try it out, just brush your eyebrows up, fill in the bald spots with a thin eyebrow pencil (if you need to), and apply a good brow gel. You can notice that I incorporated the trend in all the previous looks.

With this, we come to the end of this beauty report, I encourage you to jump out of your comfort zone and try even the most daring trends. Remember that with just a few adjustments, you can make any trend more wearable and more suitable for your style.

I hope you enjoyed this second part of the makeup trends for the summer. Don't forget to let me know in the comments what your favorite trends were. Until next time!
